Euro giants want 27-year-old; Tottenham ‘already negotiating a transfer’ for him, move ‘close’

By Saikat -

Tottenham Hotspur signed Clement Lenglet on loan from Barcelona at the start of the season.

The 27-year-old Frenchman has been a useful squad player for the North London club, and they are reportedly looking to sign the player permanently at the end of the season.

A report from Sport claims that Italian giants Inter Milan have now joined the race to sign the 27-year-old.

Inter are hoping to bring in defensive reinforcements at the end of the season and they view the Tottenham defender as a potential option.

A report from the Spanish publication Sport claims that Tottenham are ‘already negotiating a transfer’ for the 27-year-old defender with Barcelona and the move is ‘close’.

There have been reports that England would prefer to stay in England and play for Tottenham beyond this season. It remains to be seen whether Inter Milan can convince the player to move to Italy in the summer instead.

Tottenham need to add more depth and quality to their defence, and the 27-year-old could prove to be a quality acquisition for a bargain. With players like Davinson Sanchez and Japhet Tanganga expected to leave in the summer, Spurs must look to keep Lenglet at the club.

Lenglet is now settled in English football, and he could be a useful player for Tottenham in the upcoming seasons.

The 27-year-old needs to join a club where he will get ample game time, and if Tottenham can provide him with the necessary assurances, there is no reason why he would look to leave the Premier League and move to Inter Milan instead.
