€45m Tottenham ace opens up on his ‘very difficult’ role in Ange Postecoglou’s system

By Saikat -

Tottenham Hotspur appointed Ange Postecoglou as their manager at the start of the season.

The Australian arrived with fresh ideas and a free-flowing attacking approach. His ideas proved to be an instant hit at the north London club and Spurs were exceptional in the first few weeks of the season.

Their form has regressed due to major injury problems, but there is no doubt that they impressed with their attacking philosophy in the first few weeks of the season.

Defender Pedro Porro has now opened up to AS on how difficult it was to adapt to the Australian’s methods and his new role in the side. The 24-year-old revealed that he has never played as an interior and that made it difficult for him to adapt. However, he is feeling much better with every passing game and he is winning the trust of the manager. The €45 million defender has proven himself to be a useful acquisition for Tottenham since joining them from Sporting CP.

“At first it was very difficult for me because I had never played there and it was new for me. Every game I feel much better. As the games go by and the coach’s confidence grows, I become more relaxed. I am happy and I hope to continue playing good games there (in that position).”

The Spaniard has added a new dimension to the Tottenham attack, going forward, and he is clearly improving in the defensive aspects of his game as well.

There is no doubt that he has the ability to establish himself as one of the best full-backs in the league.

Given the fact that he has four assists in his last five outings, it shows that Postecoglou’s system could get the best out of him in the coming months.
