Radu Dragusin could return to Serie A just six months after making the move to Tottenham.
Ange Postecoglou wanted to add more depth to his defence during the winter transfer window. They were on the lookout for a young defender who could help them in the long run and Tottenham ended up securing the services of Radu Dragusin from Genoa.
The Romanian international had made quite a name for himself with consistent performances in the Italian top flight and he was expected to become an important part of Spurs first team. Unfortunately, that hasn’t happened yet and according to Area Napoli, Dragusin is ready to seal a move back to Italy in the summer.
Since joining Tottenham, the 22-year-old versatile defender has only featured in nine games and has racked up less than 500 minutes of first-team football. The lack of game time has resulted in a lot of speculation about his future and his agent Florin Manea has talked about a move away from the North London club in the recent past. He suggested that his client could join Napoli if they appointed Antonio Conte as their new manager.
Conte is expected to take charge as the manager of the Naples-based club and they could end up reigniting their interest in Dragusin. The Italian manager will look to reinforce his defence.
A deal for the 22-year-old Tottenham centre-back who hasn’t had much game time at his new club could be feasible. He could look to leave Spurs and return to Italy on loan to get more first-team action and regain prominence.
It will be interesting to see if Tottenham are willing to sanction his departure on loan during the summer transfer window. They need quality and depth in their squad and letting the 22-year-old leave without bringing in a quality alternative could be a mistake.
