“The good news is” – Doctor shares update on Destiny Udogie

By Mehdi Gokal -

Tottenham Hotspur faced another setback as injuries continued to plague them throughout the ongoing campaign.

Ange Postecoglou’s squad has been hit hard by injuries, with more than 20 players experiencing at least one injury during the course of the season.

The latest is the key member of Spurs’ starting XI, Destiny Udogie, who is set to be out until the end of the season.

Dr. Rajpal Brar emphasised that the Lilywhites had no choice but to proceed with surgery for the left-back.

Udogie has suffered a quadriceps injury, which will require at least two months for full recovery.

In an interview with Tottenham News, Dr Brar, an injury expert and sports scientist, provided insight into Udogie’s injury situation.

Dr Brar initially found the disclosure of the injury confusing, but the club later clarified it.

Although the official statement didn’t provide details, it was eventually confirmed to be a left quadriceps injury.

He highlighted the importance of the quadriceps in essential activities such as running and kicking, underscoring its significance in football, stating:

“My take is there may have been some initial confusion about wanting to reveal the injury or not but clearly that was then communicated by the club.

“The official statement did not mention it but then it was revealed it’s a left quadriceps injury.

“The quadriceps are the muscles on the front of your leg, involved heavily in running and kicking.

“The good news is he has the off-season now to recover and return after a couple of months.

“It perhaps reached a stage where he couldn’t push himself until the end of the season.“

Udogie has been among Tottenham’s top performers this season, featuring in 28 matches, scoring 2 goals, and contributing 3 assists. (Transfermarkt)

Spurs face a daunting series of fixtures in the closing stages of the season, with matches against formidable opponents including Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool, and Manchester City.

Postecoglou will definitely feel the absence of his first-choice left-back.
