Doctor reveals when injured Tottenham player can be expected back

Tottenham’s season has been marred with injuries, with more than 20 players suffering over the course of the season.

One of them is Spurs’ substitute goalkeeper Fraser Forster has been unavailable since mid-February.

The 35-year-old goalkeeper had sustained a foot fracture in training, an injury which was to sideline him for a couple of months.

However, unfortunately for the Lilywhites, there hasn’t been a positive update. Injury expert Dr. Rajpal Brar believes that Forster might have experienced a setback with his rehabilitation.

Injury expert shares update on Fraser Forster’s injury

Dr Brar, a physical therapy doctor and sports scientist, provided an update on the Englishman’s fitness in an interview with Tottenham News.

Forster, who initially anticipated a return in April, now faces an extended recovery period until the end of the season.

He suggested that Forster’s extended absence could be due to delayed aspects of his rehabilitation or setbacks during the recovery process. Dr Brar further adds that he is expected to be back for the pre-season training.

He said:

“Reports said he could be back in April but now is said to be out until the end of the season.

“I always say to be careful with long-term timelines because there are so many variables we simply don’t know.

“This could be a case where some parts of rehab simply took longer so it doesn’t make sense to rush him back or there was some setback in his rehab.

“In the latter case, you have to continue to be methodical and patient with your process to avoid further setbacks.

“He should be back ahead of pre-season training.“

This isn’t the first time the ex-Celtic goalkeeper has been absent from games this season; he was sidelined for three matches earlier due to back issues.

The England International is contracted with the Lilywhites until June 30 of the following year, with over a year remaining on the deal.

Forster has only appeared once for Tottenham in the ongoing campaign, playing for 90 minutes in the second-round defeat of the EFL Cup against Fulham last August.
