Former player doesn’t think “unbelievable” Tottenham star “wants to play” for the club

Tottenham Hotspur defender Cristian Romero has been linked with a move away from the club at the end of the season.

European heavyweights Real Madrid have been linked with the player, and it remains to be seen whether the South American decides to leave in the summer.

It has been a disappointing season for Tottenham, and a player of his quality will want to compete at the highest level. He has already won the World Cup and the Copa America with Argentina, and he will want to win major trophies at the club level. Tottenham are clearly not at that level where they can challenge for the league title or the Champions League.

If Real Madrid comes calling in the summer, it would not be a surprise if the player wants to leave.

Former Tottenham midfielder Jamie O’Hara has now claimed that he doesn’t think Romero wants to play for Tottenham anymore. It remains to be seen how the situation develops. He is undoubtedly the best defender at the club, and his departure would be a massive blow for the club. He has been hailed as “unbelievable” by his teammates.

O’Hara said (h/t GMS): “I don’t think he wants to be there at the moment, I don’t think he wants to be in this team. I don’t think he wants to play in this team.”

Tottenham cannot lose Cristian Romero

They have looked vulnerable defensively this season, and losing the South American would weaken them further. It will be interesting to see if they can replace him adequately, especially without Champions League football.

Tottenham are unlikely to secure Champions League qualification through league finish, and the only way they can compete in the premier European tournament next year is if they win the UEFA Europa League this season.

It remains to be seen whether they can finish the season strongly. It would certainly give them a better chance of holding onto their best players.
