Tottenham Hotspur have been linked with a number of defenders in recent weeks.
The North London outfit are looking to strengthen their defensive unit and they have looked at players like Micky van de Ven and Edmond Tapsoba.
According to Alasdair Gold from Football London, Tottenham have held talks with the likes of Wolfsburg and Bayer Leverkusen for the two players.
Gold adds that the Premier League side ‘could yet move’ for both players if they can get rid of some of their fringe options.
Tottenham are willing to sell players like Davinson Sanchez, Japhet Tanganga and Joe Rodon this summer. It wouldn’t be surprising if they decided to sign two new central defenders in the coming weeks.
Spurs were quite vulnerable defensively last season and they will have to tighten up at the back if they want to do well in the Premier League and get back into the Champions League.
The North London outfit ended up conceding 63 goals in the league last season and it is one area that is in need of major strengthening.
Both Van de Ven and Tapsoba have done exceptionally well for their respective clubs in the Bundesliga last season, and they could prove to be quality acquisitions.
Apparently, the Dutchman is valued at €30 million and Tapsoba could cost around €45 million this summer. It will be interesting to see if Tottenham can secure a €75 million double deal to transform their defence this summer.
