Conte ‘almost certain to be on the touchline’ for Wolves

By The Boy -

Despite numerous reports doing the rounds, including this one from a Reach PLC publication which suggested that both Tottenham’s and Chelsea’s coaches could miss their next games, it now emerges from the BBC that Conte and Tuchel probably won’t, and both men will probably be available for next weekend’s Premier League ties.

The BBC’s Simon Stone understands that the suspensions are not automatic and allow an appeal process, which is unlikely to be concluded by the time Spurs are due to face Wolves next Saturday lunchtime.

Given Conte’s post-match remarks about looking at the video, which presumably, he is referring to the incident at the end where Tuchel refuses to release Conte’s hand in the handshake after the final whistle.

As I have stated clearly already, the entire Battle of the Bridge business leaves me cold. There’s a big difference between being tough and what we witnessed on Sunday. So I hope the authorities throw the book at both coaches and send out a clear message to anyone watching, daft enough to believe that any of what went on was somehow, ‘cool’.

I often wondered what happened to Sinbad when he was axed from Brookside.

Chelsea are whiners. They squandered several golden chances because they have poor strikers. That’s why they lost. Good team, terrible forwards.

Just before the James goal, Koulibaly smacked Deki down to floor. Looked like more of a foul than Bentancur’s supposed one. Did we whinge about that? Did Conte moan and complain about the ‘bad’ refereeing and get in the officials’ faces. Nope. I’ve been looking back over a few replays and different angles of the confrontations between Conte and Tuchel. In each case, it looks to me like Conte did nothing wrong (unless you class his exuberance as wrong). In each case, it was Chelsea staff or their manager who instigated a fracas. I hope they throw the book at Tuchel. Conte: no, undeserved.

So much to love about this game , we went into it hoping to win this game , not quite knowing what we were gonna get , our first foray into a season of uncertainty.
Well it threw up more questions than answers , but if you were a Chelsea fan I think it has given the serious doubts about Title-winning .
They have NO complete striker , Havertz is NOT that man . What they do have , defo in front of us is BELIEF .
This was evident yesterday , we retained our ‘old team’ largely because we trust it , but the great man realised after an hour that overall we just were not good enough , in all the areas that we all know we aren’t good enough. That men against boys feeling .
But The Boss saw this and set about correcting this in the best way he could . This forced a fresh dynamism and although not sparkling football , a determination emerged .
Lets be totally honest , the front three were nowhere near peak form so they were dismantled , Richarlison , Perisic and Bissouma managed to instill a little power, energy , aggression and suddenly THEY realised we weren’t capitulating as per.
I believe this result will have shaken them and fortified us , so much more than a football match , the drama was exhilarating , what a start to the season !!!!!!!!!!!! C O Y S !!!!!!!

Agree the talent gap is wide. Maybe Romero starts over Thiago Siva.

For all our ‘investment’ only Son and Kane – however poor they were yesterday – would get near Chelsea’s team. Levy is spending the bare minimum to keep Conte and until he signs a new deal, I remain utterly skeptical. When has Levy signed a real top drawer player that set the pulses racing? He’s a caaaant. Enic out.

Bill Nicholson has been credited with saying, ‘It is better to fail aiming high than to succeed aiming low. And we of Spurs have set our sights very high, so high in fact that even failure will have in it an echo of glory. Although this was credited to Billy Nic, it was probably said by Danny Blanchflower, according to Norman Giller who’s a great Spurs fan. He was the sort of football manager that appealed to me and whom I respected, along with Keith Burkinshaw. I wasn’t the slightest bit impressed by either Tuchel or Conte’s antics. They were both as bad as each other and it has been announced that they are both being investigated by the FA. Today’s football managers are rather like today’s politicians. Generally, narcissistic with ready made excuses, unable to admit they got their tactics wrong or that they were beaten by a better team.
The fact is that Chelsea were far too good for us and both our goals were debatable. Far too many Spurs fans seemed to believe that we are better than we are and went into this game with expectations that were far too high. Many fans keep uttering the same mantra that we’ve had a great window. Well, I beg to differ. Bissouma might be a good signing at a reasonable price in these highly inflated transfer market prices but have we really sorted out our WB problems, our weakness in CD? Dier and Sanchez just aren’t good enough and I remain unconvinced by Lenglet, having watched him play for Barca. Betancur and Hjojberg are too slow in midfield and too similar. We need somebody in midfield who can alter the pattern and tempo of the game. We have never replaced Dembele and Eriksen, in truth, thanks to Levy’s continuing tour of dereliction. It’s early days but Gabriel Jesus looks a better buy at £45 million compared to Richarlison at £60 million. Son and Kane have been poor for the first two games and Kulu’s lack of pace showed up yesterday, he never got past his man. I do think however that there has been some progress in the strength of the squad and the culling of some players who were never up to the job and we all know Rome wasn’t built in a day but I remain unconvinced by Levy’s ambitions for the football club, as opposed to his as a property speculator
Returning to the Sessegnon query, it’s my belief that he doesn’t have the heart or mentality to succeed at the top level. I looked at his body language yesterday when Conte subbed him and as he trudged rather forlornly off the pitch, he looked surprised to be hooked when he had been pretty poor. He wasn’t that happy when he was subbed at Southampton either. It’s interesting that we have bought Destiny Udogie and my guess is he will end up as our left back not Sessegnon.

They had actual handbags, bit different.

Sessegnon simply walked off the pitch, disappointed as he should be. Nothing more, nothing less, yet ridiculously it is said he is showing signs of victimhood.

Good grief

We were awful. They played at probably their highest level. They could only draw. Levels

How can you expect the players to play by the rules if the coaches don’t. Personally I think Conte knew what he was doing celebrating the first equaliser the way he did, he was out to wind Tuchel up and he took the bait, and some.

A section of our fans should perhaps try to not get distracted by all this, we were decidedly second best and extremely lucky to get a point. This idea that Conte is somehow instilling some kind of winning spirit or attitude and presenting this ‘performance’ as evidence is clearly nonsense. Perhaps it makes it easier to stomach quite how much Cheavski dominated us, uncomfortable truths need to be faced head on. Regardless of the circus around it.

It seems as Spurs fans we cling onto any positive angle to make the whole experience of ENIC FC more bearable, over 23 years and counting. We need more quality and to compete properly rather than overhyping a transfer window that has so far failed to address several key issues and referring to hair pulling as ‘the dark arts’.

Yesterday should be a reality check, nothing less and nothing more…

Cucurella’ studs on Romero’s knee was not going to go without retribution.
Yes the hair pull was not right, but Romero’ season could’ve been ended.

Last week we had a much worse over the ball challenge from McTominey on Caicedo not even get a yellow, a disgraceful challenge.
He knew exactly what he was doing.

Apart from those two incidents yesterday, nothing much happened.
So I have to respectfully disagree.

Obviously a fine is coming for both teams, but I think nothing more is needed.

Tuchel could’ve been sent off for running down the touchline, so I would say they got their own luck during the game.
