‘Contacts with Tottenham intensify’ as Postecoglou closes in on 68-cap international

By Saikat -

Tottenham Hotspur have been linked with a move for the Porto striker Mehdi Taremi.

A report from the Record claims that the 31-year-old Iran international could look to leave the club this summer as ‘contacts with Tottenham intensify’.

Taremi has been a proven goal scorer in European football over the last few seasons and he could prove to be a quality acquisition for the north London club.

Spurs were overly dependent on Harry Kane for goals last season and they need more depth and quality in the attack.

Players like Richarlison and Son Heung-min were largely underwhelming last season. Even if Kane ends up staying at the club this summer, Tottenham must invest in a reliable goalscorer.

Taremi is at the peak of his powers right now as he is a proven goalscorer. He scored 31 goals across all competitions last season and he has the pedigree to hit the ground running in the Premier League.

Spurs will be determined to sign quality players this summer so that they can return to the Champions League and the 68-cap Iran international would certainly make a big difference for them.

The north London outfit have already signed quality players like James Maddison and Guglielmo Vicario. They are closing in on a deal to sign Micky van de Ven from Wolfsburg as well.

It has been an eventful summer for Tottenham so far and they will look to top it up by keeping Kane at the club for the long term.
