Tottenham defender Djed Spence has been linked with a move away from the club in recent months.
The 24-year-old has struggled for regular gametime since joining the club in 2022 from Nottingham Forest. The player has been constantly overlooked by Ange Postecoglou and it is unlikely that he will get regular game time in the upcoming months.
According to Give Me Sport, multiple clubs are keen on signing his signature in January and the player will be subject to enquiries during the January transfer window. It will be interesting to see if Tottenham are willing to sanction his departure in January.
The 24-year-old needs regular game time to continue his development and sitting on the bench at Tottenham is unlikely to benefit him. He is unlikely to be a regular starter for the North London club unless there is a major injury blow. He should look to move on in search of regular playing time. He has proven his quality in the Championship in the past and he could prove to be a useful acquisition for a Premier League club as well. It remains to be seen where he ends up. He needs to join the club where he will get regular gametime.
Tottenham cannot afford to let Djed Spence leave
Meanwhile, Tottenham are lacking in depth in the defensive unit and letting the 24-year-old leave in January could prove to be a mistake. Pedro Porro is the only other reliable right-back in the squad. Spurs must hold onto their first team players until the end of the season. They are pushing for Champions League qualification and they cannot afford to weaken the squad at this stage of the season.
The defender’s suitors might have to wait until the summer transfer window to get a deal done.
