Tottenham Hotspur defender Cristian Romero has been linked with a move away from the club in recent weeks.

Spanish outfit Atletico Madrid are keen on securing his signature, and they have been handed renewed optimism in their pursuit of the Argentine defender.

Recently, we recovered reports about Julian Alvarez, playing a role in convincing the Tottenham defender to join the Spanish club.

Atletico Madrid optimistic about getting the deal done

According to a report from Mundo Deportivo, Tottenham recently released their kit video, but Romero was not present in it. The report claims that Atletico Madrid have optimism that they might be able to pull off the transfer, and Tottenham might be planning for a future without their star defender.

The report also quotes info from Matt Law stating that Tottenham have a “major cash problem”. It remains to be seen whether Tottenham decide to sell the player. Daniel Levy values the defender at €70 million, and he will not make it easy for the player to leave. Atletico Madrid will have to pay the asking price in order to get the deal done. However, the Spanish outfit are hoping to sign him for a more reasonable amount of money.

It will be interesting to see if both clubs can work out a deal in the coming weeks. The South American defender has proven himself for club and country, and he is one of the best players in his position. He could improve Atletico Madrid immensely

The opportunity to join the Spanish out will be exciting for the player as well. He will look to win major trophies at the club level after winning the World Cup and the Copa America with his country. He was instrumental in the UEFA Europa League win for Tottenham last season. His departure will weaken them defensively, and they will have to bring in a top-class replacement.

It remains to be seen how the situation unfolds.
