Tottenham Hotspur defender Djed Spence was on loan at Italian club Genoa during the second half of last season.
There have been rumours that the Italian outfit could look to sign in permanently during the summer transfer window and Fabrizio Romano has now confirmed that Genoa are ‘advancing in talks’ with the North London club to sign the 23-year-old.

Spence does not have a future at Tottenham and joining the Italian club permanently would be ideal for all parties. Tottenham will be able to recoup some money for him and improve their squad with the proceeds from his departure. The 23-year-old needs to play regularly at this stage of his career, and the Italian outfit will be able to provide him with that platform.
The young defender has proven his quality in Italy during his loan spell and he has established himself as an important team player for Genoa. He is versatile enough to operate as a full back on either flank and he can slot into the role of a wing back as well. His versatility makes him an important asset for the Italian club, and they will hope that he can continue to develop and grow into a top class player in the near future.
Spence was highly rated during his time in the Championship, but he never quite managed to make his mark at Tottenham. Leaving the club will be ideal for his development now. If he manages to fulfil his tremendous potential, he will have plenty of opportunities to join a big club in the near future.
