Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane has been linked with a move away from the club this summer.
The 29-year-old has entered the final 12 months of his contract and he is yet to sign a new deal with the club. Naturally, there are rumours that he could be sold in the coming weeks.
A player of his quality cannot be allowed to leave the club on a free transfer next summer.
As per the Athletic, several top clubs around Europe are keen on signing the striker and Chelsea have now joined the race as well. They have made an enquiry for the England international who has 32 goals this season.
The Blues have struggled to score goals this past season. Players like Kai Havertz and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang have not been prolific in front of goal and they must sign a reliable goalscorer this summer.
Chelsea have been keeping tabs on players like Victor Osimhen as well.
Kane is a proven performer in the Premier League and he is one of the best strikers of his generation. The 29-year-old pretty much guarantees goals and the Blues harbour hopes of reuniting him with Mauricio Pochettino.
The Argentine has been appointed as the new manager of Chelsea and he has a strong relationship with Kane. Pochettino played a key role in his development as a striker.
It seems highly unlikely that Spurs will allow him to join a direct rival this summer. The player has been linked with Real Madrid and Manchester United as well.
Whoever ends up signing him will have a superstar on their hands. As for Spurs, they will hope to convince him to sign a new deal soon.
