Tottenham are reportedly targeting Ajax’s rising star Brian Brobbey as they look to bolster their attack in the final days of the January transfer window.
It was previously reported that Spurs are edging closer to secure a deal for the Dutch sensation before the transfer window shuts. And Dutch football analyst Mike Verweij has now indicated that Brobbey is open to a move to North London, especially if Spurs intensify their pursuit before the transfer window shuts.
Spurs are in desperate need of attacking reinforcements after injuries sidelined Dominic Solanke, Brennan Johnson, Timo Werner, Richarlison, and Wilson Odobert. Manager Ange Postecoglou has been left with limited options up front as the team battles through a challenging Premier League campaign.
Although Brobbey is currently under contract with Ajax until 2027, he reportedly views a move to Tottenham as an exciting chance to elevate his career.
Mike Verweij: Brian Brobbey will want to join Tottenham
Verweij suggests that the 22-year-old Dutch striker prefers Spurs over other interested clubs, aligning well with Tottenham’s current search for attacking reinforcements. Speaking to Voetbal Primeur, the journalist stated:
“If a Premier League club like West Ham United or Spurs comes along, he doesn’t really want to go to Everton, then he wants to leave. If Spurs are going to continue, then yes, he wants to go there.”
Since making his debut for Ajax in October 2020, Brobbey has established himself as one of the Eredivisie’s brightest talents. The 22-year-old striker has impressed with his physicality, versatility, and ability to adapt to different tactical systems.
This season, Brobbey has registered three goals and seven assists in 29 appearances across all competitions, building on his stellar form from last season, where he netted 18 goals and provided 10 assists in 30 Eredivisie games.

His versatility and physical presence on the pitch make him a formidable attacking option. Tottenham’s interest in Brobbey is well-founded given his adaptability to different tactical systems and proven scoring ability.
If Spurs manage to secure Brobbey on a possible loan deal, it would be a strategic addition to reinforce their attack. His presence could offer Postecoglou the attacking depth and flexibility needed to navigate the remainder of the season more confidently.
While Spurs have been linked with high-profile attackers like Randal Kolo Muani and Santiago Giménez, both appear unlikely to join. Kolo Muani has already signed with Juventus, while Giménez is reportedly leaning toward AC Milan. This leaves Brobbey as the most realistic option for Tottenham to reinforce their squad.
As the January transfer window nears its conclusion, Spurs must act swiftly to bring in reinforcements. Brobbey’s proven track record and potential to grow make him an appealing option for Tottenham, who desperately need to turn their season around.
