Boost for Spurs in their pursuit of Premier League star as club eyes replacement

By Mehdi Gokal -

Tottenham Hotspur, despite securing Radu Dragusin’s signing in January, are actively pursuing further reinforcements for their defensive lineup, with Everton’s Jarrad Branthwaite emerging as a prime target.

Speculation linking Spurs with the promising young centre-back has intensified in recent months, with reports indicating competition from North London rivals Arsenal for Branthwaite’s signature.

However, Tottenham remains resolute in their pursuit of the player.

The interest in Branthwaite extends beyond Spurs and Arsenal, with notable clubs like Real Madrid, Manchester United, and Chelsea also expressing interest in securing the defender’s services, setting the stage for a potential summer bidding war.

According to The Mirror, Everton, acknowledging the substantial interest in Branthwaite, are preparing for the possibility of his departure in the upcoming summer transfer window.

The Toffees are reportedly scouting potential replacements, with Hull City’s Jacob Greaves identified as an option.

Branthwaite, who penned a new contract with Everton in October last year, is considered a pivotal player for manager Sean Dyche, featuring prominently in the Premier League this season with 24 appearances.

Additionally, the 21-year-old has represented England at the U21 level, showcasing his leadership qualities by captaining the side on occasions.

Tottenham’s pursuit of Branthwaite comes on the heels of their recent acquisition of Dragusin for €25 million, underscoring their commitment to strengthening their defensive ranks ahead of the next campaign.

As Tottenham weigh their options, the decision on whether to pursue Branthwaite further rests with the club’s hierarchy, who are keen to reinforce their squad for the challenges ahead.
