Tottenham Hotspur have been actively shortlisting targets across multiple positions ahead of the upcoming transfer window.
However, their hopes of securing one of their desired players have encountered a setback.
The Lilywhites have been focusing on acquiring a defender for a potential summer signing, but their pursuit of Riccardo Calafiori seems to have hit a snag.
According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, Calafiori has reportedly agreed to join Serie A giants Juventus.
The Italian defender currently plies his trade for Bologna, having joined from FC Basel last summer for a transfer fee of €4 million.
In his debut season under Thiago Motta, Calafiori has showcased impressive performances, making 37 appearances in all competitions while contributing 2 goals and 5 assists. (Transfermarkt)
With his versatility allowing him to excel as both a centre-back and a left-back, Calafiori seemed to be an ideal fit for Tottenham’s needs.
However, Fabrizio Romano recently shared an update that might disappoint Spurs, who were believed to be leading contenders for the young defender’s signature.
Romano revealed on his official handle X that Calafiori has ‘said yes’ to a move to Juventus, where he will reunite with his former Bologna manager, Thiago Motta, who is poised to take over at the Turin club.

This development deals a significant blow to the Lilywhites, who are in urgent need of defensive reinforcements.
With Calafiori seemingly out of reach, Tottenham will now need to explore alternative options to bolster their backline and meet the demands set by Ange Postecoglou for the upcoming season.
