Best Of Spurs’ Defense Last Night Video

By The Boy -

‘What did you do in t’ war, daddy?’

‘I played in that there Spurs’ backline, my boy’

Jan Vertonghen made 1 back-pass all night. 26 successful forward passes. 100% tackle rate, 3 interceptions, 6 clearances, and committed zero fouls.

Davinson Sanchez‘s passing accuracy hit a rather sexual 92.9%, in the defensive third he passed with 100% accuracy. Again, just 1 back-pass.

Want more? He got more.

The Colombian recovered the ball 6 times, made 2 interceptions and 2 blocks. 8 clearances, 3 headed clearances and no fouls committed.

Oh, and Serge, Toby and Ben were all pretty good too.

OGS deserves the job, to release him and then give the job to Posh would be madness for Manures. Firstly Poch would cost them a fortune, secondly Poch would have to work with big egos there, something he hasn’t yet done. OGS has got a good tune out of them already and is also part of the Fergie mafia that inevitably has a huge influence on what’s going on.

OGS is taylor made for them and has now proven to be the right man, Manure is a very different job to Spurs and there’s no evidence that Poch would be right for them.

To me, Neville is wannabe manager and even took on the Valencia job in which he was shit, can you imagine if an ex team mate gets to manage your boyhood club and you are left up in the commentary box as the failed manager? No wonder he was banging the job for Poch, he’s jealous of OGS most probably, Neville would be like that, he’s a massive tit sometimes…

Warning for anyone at work, the only popup to relieve is a stripper window opening in a separate tab. Just quickly close the tab and maximise the match video player.

Incidentally at 2-1 to United very late in the game, I felt pretty sure they were going to get the winner right at the death. Not sure they have the right manager long term, but if they continue in this vein until the end of the season how can they not give him the job?

Real and PSG aren’t secure jobs for any manager, ok, big clubs with big budgets but Poch will know a lot about both those clubs and the precarious nature of managing them.

When you look at the bigger picture, having a very secure job at a club achieving regular Champions football in a great city like London soon to play in a 62k seater shopping mall isn’t that bad a gig for any manager, especially whilst earning over 8m a year. Poch won’t leave yet, not for a while.

So true, being one of the protagonists for TheNewGazza™ I still think he will end up your No1. Good to see Lloris try to do better with his distribution. Good healthy competition within the team certainly seems to help.

So next round:
Spurs
Ajax
Porto
United
Juve or Athletico – (Athletico 2-0 home goals up)
City or Schalke – City take 3-2 away lead home
Barca or Lyon – 0-0 going Nou Camp
Bayern or Liverpool – 0-0 going to Munich

So I think we have a great chance of seeing 4 English teams in last 8. Then I think Barca should just edge it (could you imagine the fall out if both Barca and Real went out!!), and juve Athletico…I think juve might turn that around.

So most of us would prefer Porto (I would have said Ajax until that display in Madrid). If Lyon can beat Barca, I wouldn’t mind a piece of them too. Some will say “I don’t care who we get, I want to beat the best…” but personally I would rather only play one good side in the final than in the QTR’s! look at Liverpool last year, hardly faced a real team until the semi finals.

Superb result for United, so don’t want to take anything away from them. However, I really do think PSG are somewhat overrated; I never ever feel that they’re going to win the Cl. They’re not genuine contenders in my view. Anyway, I think this result probably keeps Poch out of United’s clutches this Summer at any rate. Alas, Real and PSG may come after him.

Not much doubt, Porto the draw everyone will want in the quarters; get them (and we probably won’t!) and we ought to make into SF.

Re DD’s comments on LLoris, I believe that goalkeeping has never been so difficult with a light ball swinging all over the place. And managers like Guardiola seem to expect their goalies to dribble the ball like Messi!

It just beggars belief that we would let Tobey and Vertonghen go. Not a shred of football sense does it make dispensing if that experience.
