“Keep an eye on Tottenham”, “one to watch” – Ben Jacobs makes exciting Tottenham transfer claim

By Mehdi Gokal -

Tottenham Hotspur are set to enter the summer transfer window with a keen interest in bolstering their attacking options, and Genoa’s Albert Gudmundsson has emerged as a prime target for the North London club.

Highly reputable journalist Ben Jacobs has shed light on Tottenham’s pursuit of the Icelandic forward, suggesting that Spurs are closely monitoring Gudmundsson as a potential addition to their squad.

Gudmundsson, 26, has enjoyed a stellar season with Serie A side Genoa, playing a pivotal role in their campaign.

The forward has netted an impressive 15 goals and provided 4 assists in 33 appearances across all competitions, showcasing his goal-scoring prowess and versatility in the attacking third.

Ben Jacobs confirms Tottenham are tracking Gudmundsson

Speaking on The Debrief Podcast, Jacobs highlighted Tottenham as a team to watch in the race for Gudmundsson’s signature.

He revealed that Spurs have expressed interest in the striker, alongside Juventus, who have also been briefed about the potential deal terms.

While Serie A clubs are also eyeing Gudmundsson, Spurs stands out as a significant contender in the Premier League, with Jacobs suggesting that Spurs’ pursuit of the Icelandic international could intensify if they encounter difficulties securing other transfer targets, including a permanent deal for Timo Werner.

Emphasising the importance of having a versatile player like Gudmundsson in their ranks, Jacobs hinted at Tottenham’s readiness to explore the potential transfer.

Jacobs said:

“One club to look out for is Tottenham, who are tracking the player. Juventus have also been made aware of the terms of any possible deal. There is some interest in Serie A and I think Tottenham from the Premier League is one to watch as well.

“I would keep an eye on Tottenham. If for example Timo Werner doesn’t have that option, then they’ll be looking for that versatile sort of player.”

Gudmundsson, valued at €22 million in the market, extended his contract with Genoa last November, committing his future to the club until June 2027.

However, the North London club’s recent dealings with the Italian outfit, including the signing of Radu Dragusin in January, suggest that negotiations could proceed smoothly should Spurs pursue Gudmundsson.

As Tottenham aim to strengthen their squad ahead of the new season, the potential addition of Albert Gudmundsson could provide a significant boost to their attacking options, offering versatility and goal-scoring prowess to Ange Postecoglou’s side.
