BBC pundit makes prediction about Tottenham’s season ahead of Villa game

By Mehdi Gokal -

The race for the fourth Champions League spot in the Premier League is shaping up to be a tight one, with Tottenham and Aston Villa locked in a fierce battle for the coveted position.

Liverpool, Manchester City, and Arsenal are pretty much assured of finishing in the top three, but the 4th spot is for the taking with Spurs and Aston Villa now the main contenders.

Currently, Aston Villa sit in 4th place with 55 points, while Tottenham trail closely behind in 5th place with 50 points but with a game in hand.

The fight for this remaining Champions League spot promises to be intense, with both teams determined to secure their spot in Europe’s elite competition.

Former Welsh footballer Robbie Savage has weighed in on the race, tipping Tottenham to come out on top despite their current position behind Villa.

Speaking on BBC 606, he said:

“Spurs or Villa for me, Man United are out of it, Spurs or Villa. I’ll still just go for Spurs, just edge for Spurs, just.”

Ange Postecoglou’s side cannot afford any more slip-ups if they want to stay in the race for the last spot.

They are currently 5 points behind Villa and their upcoming fixture is crucial, as they are scheduled to face the Villains on Sunday. A win will take them to trailing by just 2 points with a game in hand.

But the road to Champions League qualification will not come easy. They still face a tough set of fixtures including matches against Newcastle, Liverpool, Manchester City, and Arsenal.
