Tottenham Hotspur have been linked with a move for the Wolverhampton Wanderers winger Pedro Neto.
The 23-year-old is reportedly a target for clubs like Arsenal and Manchester United as well. However, Ben Jacobs has revealed to Give Me Sport that the North London clubs are more likely to sign him compared to the Red Devils.
However, the likes of Tottenham have been warned that Wolves could demand the club-record fee for the Portuguese international winger. Neto has been in impressive form this season, scoring three goals and picking up 11 assists across all competitions.
“I think that Arsenal and Spurs are more likely destinations for Neto, at this point. We know the Tottenham interest is historical, and I would expect Arsenal to consider Neto this summer as one of a few targets in that position.
“But both of the north London clubs will also be well aware that Wolves – because he is still well contracted – will be looking for a club-record sale.
“They will be very firm on price. You can understand why, in an inflated market, where many attackers and midfielders have gone for in excess of £70million.”
The 23-year-old has all the attributes to develop into a top-class winger and he could be a key player for Tottenham going forward. The North London outfit could certainly use his flair, creativity and pace from the flanks.
Neto is versatile enough to operate on either flank and he would certainly improve Tottenham going forward.
The opportunity to join a big club like Tottenham or Arsenal will be an attractive proposition for the player and it would be a major step up in his career. He would get to compete for trophies with them.
Meanwhile, Manchester United need a quality winger like him as well. Antony and Jadon Sancho have been quite underwhelming since joining the club and they will need to be replaced adequately.
It will be interesting to see if Tottenham are willing to pay a premium for the highly rated winger at the end of the season. They will need to improve their squad if they want to compete for major trophies next season.
