‘All I can say is…’: Attacker opens up on interest from PL clubs including Tottenham

By Saikat -

Tottenham Hotspur were heavily linked with the move for the Club Brugge winger Antonio Nusa during the January transfer window.

The 18-year-old ended up staying at the Belgian club and the transfer did not materialise in the end. Brentford were keen on signing the player as well and they had already agreed on a fee with his club. However, the Premier League side backed out of the deal after concerns regarding his knee.

When asked about Spurs and Brentford’s interest, the player has now revealed that he always wanted to stay at the Belgian club until the summer transfer window and he is focused on the task at hand. He is not worried about his future right now.

Nusa admits that the situation in January was beyond his control, but he has now informed his agent that he will not make a decision on his future until the end of the campaign.

The winger also opened up regarding the speculations surrounding his knee and revealed that there are no problems medically.

He said to Het Laatste Nieuws: “First and foremost: I had always intended to stay here until the summer. That also makes it much easier today.

“Suddenly a lot started to move. I spoke a few times with Brentford, including the coach [Thomas Frank], and was very excited. In the end, it didn’t happen – it’s things you can’t control.

“All I can say is that I am 100% fit and never had any problems with that knee. In the end, it also became clear that there was no problem.

“I’m trying to do my job now. And I told my brokers that I don’t want to make a choice at the moment. Or can’t make one”.

Tottenham to return for Antonio Nusa?

Spurs were reportedly willing to offer €30 million for the winger in January, and it will be interesting to see if they decide to come back for him in the summer.

It is no secret that they need to add more quality and depth through their attack. The 18-year-old winger will add creativity, pace, and technical ability in the final third. He has four goals and four assists this season.

Nusa is highly rated across Europe and he could develop into a quality attacker for Tottenham with the right guidance. Their attacking style of football could bring out the best in the player and Ange Postecoglou could be the ideal manager to nurture the Norwegian prodigy.
