Antonio Conte close to landing player he is ‘desperate’ for as Spurs find themselves in pole position

By Mehdi Gokal -

According to reports via TeamTalk, Tottenham are in the driving seat to land AS Roma star Nicolo Zaniolo and might just be able to sign him on a bargain player plus cash deal.

Spurs are in the market for an attacking midfielder with Zaniolo said to be their primary target. As per the reports by the Italian outlet Quotidiano Nazionale, Conte asked Spurs to make a second bid for the Roma star and now according to TeamTalk (h/t Football-Talk), Conte is ‘desperate’ to sign the Italian ‘at all costs’.

TeamTalk suggests Spurs could be willing to offer Roma £25m plus Lo Celso who is valued at around £17m in a cash plus player deal for Nicolo Zaniolo. While a report from CalcioMercatoWeb claims that AS Roma are very much interested in Giovani Lo Celso.

The 23 year old is an extremely versatile player that can play in a variety of positions in the midfield as well as in the attack, a trait Conte looks for in his players.

If Spurs can pull this off, this would be considered a bargain deal for Spurs as they’ll be signing that the manager really considers to be the missing piece to his team while also getting rid of a player who is no longer in Conte’s plans.

His injury record will not help, look at the problems Lamela had, he was blighted by injury.

Levy punt looking to earn a few quid. I just thought maybe a prem/championship team would be in for him rather than him going to France.

Seems like no one at Spurs knows what to do with the guy. Why did we buy him again?

Because he is according to Conte “a piece of shit attitude wise” (my words) I hope Lo Value goes anywhere but Villareal. They are a very small club financially and he finds it cosy there and also we can flog him elsewhere he is well suited to Italy or Spain.
Now what about the proper piece of shizzle we must get him out of the door.£200k pw who sanctioned that isnt it more than Son?

Daniolo certainly doesnt improve our home grown quota.

what happened to straightforward ‘offers’ for players .
if he wants to play for us , surely terms and conditions established , can we afford the fee ?
if both clubs happy , do the deal , simple ……?
we , as fans , are so susceptible and gullible to this tripe that is spoon fed every day .
I just saw KDB driving past Spurs training ground , well the driver was Ginger for sure ………….I wonder ???????

There’s no way this is happening, and I have no idea why it’s a story that keeps being peddled…

If we get anywhere near City and Liverpool in the league this season it will be nothing short of a miracle.

This would NOT be a bargain deal at all. Lo Celso is a current Argentinian international and his value is significantly more than £17m. £26m – £28m is probably fair.

As for Zaniolo, sure the boy has talent, but his injury history is a huge red flag. He is not worth more than £30m tops and even then would require a very thorough medical check-up and injury insurance to protect our investment.

Zaniolo is not even a regular for his national side, unlike Lo Celso, so In my opinion I don’t think we should touch him. However it’s up to Paratici and Conte. James Maddision would be a better bet in my book, but is also overpriced.

It is advisable to back, support & believe in Conte.
However Roma, Lyon & Mourinho have done us over before and I fear they will do so again. Have seen Zaniola a few times and despite him having great thighs & being young at 23 he has looked fairly ordinairy to me. Believe his scoring and assist stats are very low. Reckon even Lo Celso is a better player. Far prefer we went for the likes of Maddison or Ward Prowse, an attacking midfielder who can also score (Wonder if Bissouma can do that for us)

Unless Mourinho has fallen out with his hierarchy.. I don’t see how lo no show improves the Roma squad

Agreed, much prefer Maddison. And let’s use Lo Celso in a swap plus cash for Pau Torres.

Tbf I didn’t think this was possible but now Roma have Dybala ..maybe ..prefer Maddison home grown and proven.
