Tottenham have been linked with several big names since the start of the window however, they have only signed Archie Gray so far in addition to Timo Werner’s loan extension.
With the new season only a few weeks away, Tottenham fans might be starting to get a little bit frustrated with the lack of new signings.
And Ange’s latest comments on the transfers are not the most encouraging either.
Speaking to the media in Japan during the pre-season tour, emphasised the need for patience, stressing that the club remains steadfast in its initial plans despite the inherent challenges and timing issues of transfers.
Postecoglou underscored the importance of discipline in adhering to their transfer strategy.
Tottenham have prioritised acquiring a striker and a wide forward, with Brentford’s Ivan Toney and Crystal Palace’s Eberechi Eze as their prime targets.
The Lilywhites are actively pursuing these potential transfers, navigating the complexities of the market.
Spurs have already made notable progress in bolstering their squad.
Postecoglou acknowledged that while fans may find the lack of immediate information frustrating, the club are working diligently behind the scenes to secure new signings.
He noted that the timing of transfers can be unpredictable and may not always align with expectations.
The Australian head coach reassured that the club’s initial goals for the transfer window remain unchanged and that patience is key to navigating this period effectively.
As quoted by Football London, Postecoglou said:
“So, what we started with at the start of summer are still there, and I wouldn’t want to put timelines on it.
“A lot of that is out of our control and we just need to be patient. From where I sit at the moment we’re still in that phase where what we identified is still what we’re after.
“We’re working hard to bring players in and it’s a process that you sometimes have to be patient with.
“But in terms of what we set out to do, that’s still the plan and you have to stay disciplined with that.
“Sometimes the timings don’t work out and it doesn’t happen as quickly as you want and you don’t get them (players) in at the right time but I think it’s really important you stay disciplined and not run off and chase other things.”
TBH Says:
Ange’s comments might come across concerning for fans. With just a few weeks left for the new season to start, we still have not addressed the positions that were considered priority at the start of the summer.
