Ange could hand 22-year-old another chance after impressing on loan

Tottenham centre-forward Troy Parrott, who is currently on loan at Eredivisie outfit Excelsior, has been garnering attention from several German clubs.

Last August, Parrott embarked on a season-long loan stint at the Dutch club.

The Irish international has made a notable impact during his loan spell, netting 8 goals and providing 4 assists in 22 Eredivisie appearances thus far. (Transfermarkt)

According to reports, Spurs may be considering retaining the striker for the upcoming season, impressed by his promising performances.

According to insights from club insider and lawyer John Wenham, Ange Postecoglou intends to assess the 22-year-old during pre-season and could offer him opportunities to showcase his abilities for the Lilywhites.

Parrott initially joined Tottenham in the summer of 2017 from Irish club Belvedere.

Two years later, at just 17 years old, he made his Premier League debut under manager Jose Mourinho in a 5-0 victory against Burnley.

Wenham, in an interview with Tottenham News, expressed confidence that the Dublin-born player would have an opportunity to demonstrate his skills under Postecoglou in the upcoming season.

With Parrott’s contract extending until the following June, the correspondent noted that Spurs have sufficient time to assess their options concerning him.

Wenham said:

“I think Parott deserves another chance in pre-season.

“His contract is set to expire in 2026, so Tottenham do have a bit of time to make a decision on him.

“I expect that Postecoglou will take a real look at Parrott in pre-season and decide what to do from there, and in my opinion, Parrott either needs to be integrated into the squad or sold.”

Parrott saw limited playing time with the Lilywhites, featuring in just 4 first-team games and accumulating a mere 94 minutes on the field.

Recent reports indicate that Bundesliga clubs have taken an interest in the targetman and are actively pursuing him.

Now, it’s up to Postecoglou to decide whether to retain Parrott or capitalise on his potential sale.
