“So disappointing for him” – Ange Postecoglou shares update on Micky van de Ven’s injury

By Mehdi Gokal -

Tottenham Hotspur’s injury woes continue to plague their season, with another setback hitting the club in their recent match.

The latest casualty is Micky van de Ven, the team’s primary centre-back, who was forced off the pitch due to an injury around the 49th minute of their 4-0 victory at Villa Park.

This injury comes as a blow to Van de Ven, who had already faced a two-month absence earlier in the campaign due to a hamstring injury sustained against Chelsea in November last year.

That initial injury sidelined him for a total of 10 games.

Speaking after the game, Tottenham manager Ange Postecoglou provided an update on Van de Ven’s condition, indicating that while the full extent of the injury is uncertain, it doesn’t appear to be severe.

He stated (as quoted by Evening Standard):

“I’m not sure, he doesn’t think it’s anything too serious. So disappointing for him because he was outstanding again up until that point.

Great for Radu [Dragusin] to come in, his first significant game-time in a big game and I thought he handled it really well.”

Since joining from VfL Wolfsburg in the summer for a €40 million transfer fee, the 22-year-old has been a consistent presence in Tottenham’s lineup, starting in all 18 league games for which he has been available.

Fans will anxiously hope for a positive news on the centre-back as more regarding the injury will is expected to be revealed in the coming days.
