Ange Postecoglou has heaped praise on Antonin Kinsky for the way he handled the ‘unique’ challenge of Tottenham Hotspur’s FA Cup clash with Tamworth.

Spurs were forced to extra time by the National League side on Sunday in the unfamiliar surroundings of their 4,000-capacity The Lamb Ground.

The Lilywhites went on to score three goals in the following 30 minutes, with Dejan Kulusevski and Brennan Johnson netting after a Nathan Tshikuna own goal.

But it could have been much worse for Spurs, with new goalkeeper Kinsky coming up with a huge save in second-half stoppage time to deny Tamworth what would have been one the greatest shocks in FA Cup history.

That was one of two saves Kinsky made in the match, while he also made five high claims and 13 recoveries, while completing 27 of his 30 passes.

The 21-year-old Czech stopper showed excellent composure under an aerial bombardment from Tamworth’s corners and throw-ins, following on from a stunning debut performance in Tottenham’s 1-0 win over Liverpool earlier in the week — just days after joining the club from Slavia Prague.

Postecoglou has paid tribute to his new goalkeeper’s ability to overcome Sunday’s ‘challenge’.

“Yeah yeah, it was a good challenge for him,” Postecoglou told reporters (via Football.London).

“That’s one of the unique things about Tamworth because every time they get into your half the ball gets into your box whether it’s a throw-in or free-kick, that’s where it ends up. You have to defend in your box. It doesn’t matter how well you try to keep them away even with a throw from the halfway line.

“I thought Toni and all the lads handled it really well because it’s always a bit of a lottery when it comes in, particularly with the way they launch it. It was good for Toni to get through that.”
