Tottenham’s Premier League woes deepened with a 3-2 loss to Everton at Goodison Park, marking their fifth defeat in six league matches.

The result highlighted ongoing struggles, with a poor first-half performance leaving Spurs too far behind to salvage points despite a spirited late comeback.

Currently sitting 15th in the table, Tottenham’s season has taken a troubling turn. Manager Ange Postecoglou, grappling with an injury-depleted squad, emphasised the urgent need for reinforcements during his post-match comments.

While he acknowledged the club’s active efforts in the transfer market, he made it clear that additional signings are essential to help the team navigate the challenges of the season.

Speaking to Sky Sports after the game, Postecoglou said:

“There will be urgency but it doesn’t need me to say it, everybody can see that. I have no issues with how the club are going about it, they are working hard and trying to find solutions. These players need help that is for sure and hopefully over the next 10 days or so we’ll find a solution. It is really tricky, we’re not the only ones in the market. The club are trying hard.”

The injury crisis has severely impacted the squad, with key players like Guglielmo Vicario, Cristian Romero, Micky van de Ven, and Destiny Udogie all sidelined. The lack of depth has been glaring, leaving Spurs struggling to maintain consistency in performances and results.

Tottenham’s league form has been a glaring concern, with only nine wins in the past nine months. Sitting just eight points above the relegation zone, the need for fresh faces to rejuvenate the squad has become increasingly critical.

However, there have been glimpses of promise in cup competitions. A 1-0 first-leg victory over Liverpool in the Carabao Cup semi-final has provided a glimmer of hope, suggesting that Postecoglou’s side may still have the potential to end the club’s 17-year trophy drought. To build on this momentum, the squad will need reinforcements before the January transfer window closes.

Chairman Daniel Levy and the board face mounting pressure to support Postecoglou in this crucial moment. With the squad stretched thin and results deteriorating, decisive action in the transfer market could prove vital for Spurs’ Premier League campaign and their manager’s future.

The coming weeks will be crucial and could potentially decide the fate of Ange Postecoglou, who now appears to have lost the support of the Tottenham supporters.
