Ange Postecoglou expected to give 26-year-old old his first start under him against Aston Villa

By Mehdi Gokal -

Tottenham manager Ange Postecoglou will have a team selection headache once again ahead of the Villa game.

With Maddison out injured and Bissouma suspected for the game having picked up his 5th yellow of the season against Wolves, Ange will need to field a new midfield pair once again.

Rodrigo Bentancur who has not started a game since his injury back in February last season is expected to be given his first start under Ange Postecoglou.

That’s according to Football London which claims that while Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg was great against Chelsea after coming on, he was not able to influence offensively against Wolves.

Which is why Ange could ‘unleash’ Bentancur against Aston Villa who was one of Spurs’ best players last season.

The Uruguayan is someone who can do the dirty work defensively but is also good at impacting the game offensively.

He was a key figure in Tottenham’s midfield prior to his injury chipping in with plenty of important goals.

Since his return from injury he has come off the bench in the last two games and was also involved with Uruguay during this international break.

This means either Lo Celso is giving the nod to start in the place of Maddison or Hojbjerg starts alongside Sarr and Bentancur is given the more advanced role.

Nevertheless, it is interesting to see what trio he goes with but the return of the Uruguayan is a huge boost for Spurs.
