Tottenham Hotspur youngster Jamie Donley is highly-rated within the club and he has been given opportunities in the Premier League and in the FA Cup this season.
According to Alasdair Gold, the youngster is an amazing talent with huge potential and he might be too good for the youth level. His performances are getting noticed by the Tottenham manager Ange Postecoglou who certainly trusts the player.
The 19-year-old forward could add some much-needed depth to the Spurs attack if he continues to develop and improve.
Speaking on The Gold and Guest Talk Tottenham podcast, the journalist said: “In Jamie Donley, they have a player who’s at that stage where he’s probably too good for the U21s. He’s right on the edge of ‘it almost looks too easy for him’.
“But, we’ve said a million times, the Premier League is a huge, huge step on top of that. So, just because he’s amazing at that doesn’t mean he walks into the team on a Saturday for Postecoglou.
“But, he’s certainly getting noticed by the first team. (If he didn’t) he wouldn’t have three appearances in the Premier League, one in the FA Cupthis season and Ange throwing him in in some big moments. He trusts him!”
It will be interesting to see if Spurs are willing to give the attacker more opportunities in the coming months. Donley will hope to establish himself as an important first-team player in the coming seasons. He is a talented player with a big future ahead of him and the first-team cameos this season will give him massive encouragement to work harder and keep improving in training.
Spurs have put together an outstanding pool of young talent at the club and they have a number of top-quality young players at their disposal. Players like Donley might need time to make the step up to the Premier League, but there is no doubt that he is good enough to compete at this level.
If Spurs can help him fulfil his potential in the coming seasons, it could save them millions in the transfer market in future.
