Report reveals how €40m-rated target feels about a move to Tottenham

By Saikat -

Tottenham Hotspur are keen on signing the Torino defender Alessandro Buongiorno at the end of the season.

According to a report from FC Inter News, Newcastle United are keen on the player as well but the defender is not convinced about a move to the Premier League. The €40 million-rated defender would prefer to stay in Italy and it remains to be seen where he ends up.

Clubs like Inter Milan are reportedly keeping tabs on him. Buongiorno has established himself as a reliable performer in the Italian league and he could prove to be a superb acquisition for Tottenham if they can get the deal done.

They have been quite vulnerable defensively in recent weeks and Tottenham must look to bring in a quality central defender at the end of the season. They will have to tighten up at the back if they want to compete for trophies and get back into the Champions League.

Buongiorno would certainly improve them defensively.

If Tottenham fail to sign him this summer, they should look to make a move for other alternatives. They have been linked with the number of central defenders in recent months.

The 24-year-old Italian defender is highly rated across Europe and he has a bright future ahead of himself. He has the attributes to develop into a top class Premier League defender and Tottenham must do everything in their power to convince him to move to London.

It remains to be seen how the situation unfolds over the next few weeks.

There is no doubt that Tottenham have the financial resources to tempt Torino into selling the 24-year-old defender, but they need to convince the player of their project and ambition first.
