Alasdair Gold names three players Spurs could now sign after missing out on Nusa

By Mehdi Gokal -

Tottenham saw their deal for Antonio Nusa get hijacked by Brentford on Sunday despite them being reportedly very close to securing his services.

While it came as a setback for Spurs, it was later discovered that the player has some persistent knee and back issues which has even resulted in his deal with Brentford to stall.

Tottenham expert Alasdair Gold, who is the club’s correspondent for Football London has now named 3 other potential options that Spurs could pursue instead.

The list includes Hayden Hackney from Middlesbrough, Adam Wharton from Blackburn Rovers, and Jonathan Rowe from Norwich City.

With funds at their disposal and the Nusa deal off the table, Spurs may decide to go all in for either of the Championship stars.

Among the mentioned options, Wharton has been strongly linked with the Lilywhites in recent weeks, as the club views him as a viable option for a midfield signing.

And while Jonathan Rowe shares similarities with Nusa, an outright wide player, the 20-year-old is even more versatile and could be deployed on both flanks as a winger or midfielder.

Speaking on his YouTube channel, Alasdair Gold stated the following regarding the recommended players, suggesting they could also be signed with a loan-back clause.

He said:

“Like I say, keep an eye, if there’s going to be a deal I do wonder if it will be a young player loan-back deal.

“Like Nusa, I’ve said before about the young players in the Championship like Jonathan Rowe, Hayden Hackney and Adam Wharton, players like that who they think we should secure them for the future now that the Nusa deal hasn’t gone through.”

Now the ball is in Tottenham’s court whether they want to secure another player before the window closes or take a pragmatic approach and wait until the summer.
