“After a hour in the dressing room” – Bentancur’s personal trainer details the player’s injury ordeal

By Mehdi Gokal -

Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Rodrigo Bentancur caused significant concern during their Premier League opener against Leicester City on Monday when he was stretchered off following a head injury.

The incident occurred during an aerial duel with Leicester’s Abdul Fatawu, which left Bentancur briefly unconscious.

The unsettling scene at the King Power Stadium saw the Uruguayan international receiving immediate medical attention before being carried off the field.

In his place, 18-year-old Archie Gray made his Tottenham debut, stepping in during a tense moment for the team.

According to the Daily Mail, there has since been a positive update on Bentancur’s condition.

His personal trainer, Daniel Fernandez, has confirmed that the midfielder is recovering well and remains in good spirits despite the alarming nature of the injury.

Bentancur responded positively to initial medical assessments, showing encouraging signs of recovery shortly after the incident while still in the dressing room.

Although the injury initially appeared concerning, early indications suggest that the midfielder is on track to make a full recovery.

Fernandez mentioned that additional tests would be conducted to ensure Bentancur’s full fitness before he returns to action.

He told Uruguayan outlet Medios Publicos (quotes via Daily Mail):

“It was a great scare, but he is recovering well. After an hour in the dressing room he reacted well.”

“Today he will continue with some tests that they are going to do and we’re hoping that everything continues as it has so far.”

“He was in a good mood and in good condition. It is difficult sometimes to think what may happen but thanks to God it seems to me that everything is going to be fine, and Rodrigo is going to be in optimal conditions.”

Tottenham will continue to closely monitor Bentancur’s progress, adhering to concussion protocols to ensure his safety and well-being. This may see him miss the game against Everton this weekend.

While the midfielder may require some time to fully recover, the encouraging news offers relief to Spurs fans, who can now look forward to his eventual return to the squad in good health.
