‘absolutely normal player’: Tottenham January signing labelled as ‘overhyped’

By Saikat -

Tottenham Hotspur signed Radu Dragusin from Genoa this month.

The 21-year-old defender impressed in the Italian league with his performances and it is no surprise that he has earned himself a move to the Premier League.

The Romanian defender will now look to impress in the Premier League and establish himself as a key player for the north London club.

However, journalist Mimmo Malfitano (h/t Area Napoli) has labelled the defender as an overhyped player. The journalist went on to state that there are players better than him at other clubs.

“Radu Dragusin is getting overhyped, but we’re talking about an absolutely normal player,” he said.

“But who is he? Calafiori from Bologna is definitely better. We’re talking about a player who wouldn’t have changed anything in the immediate [at Napoli].

“He, like Samardzic, would not give the necessary jolt to the team coached by Walter Mazzarri. He would not improve the overall quality of the team.”

Dragusin is highly rated around Europe and he has a big future ahead of him. He will have plenty of opportunities to prove his worth in the coming months and he will be hoping to answer his critics with impressive performances in England.

It will be interesting to see if he can hit the ground running in English football and transform Spurs at the back.

Tottenham have looked quite vulnerable defensively in recent weeks and they need to tighten up at the back. If Dragusin can help them improve defensively and secure Champions League qualification, the transfer could prove to be a success for all parties.

In addition to that, he is still only 21 and the defender is likely to improve with coaching and experience. He has the attributes to develop into a top class defender in the near future.
