“Absolutely concerned” – Tottenham chiefs concerned they could lose their best man to Premier League rivals

Ange Postecoglou has been a revelation at Tottenham Hotspur since being appointed the manager in the summer.

He was not the most popular name in the managerial shortlist for Daniel Levy, but the decision to hire him over some prominent names has proven to be a masterclass.

Despite facing a number of injuries and player absences, the Australian manager has managed to steer the team towards success, demonstrating impressive progress with a very thin squad.

Spurs currently sit in the 4th position with 47 points, ahead of Aston Villa who are 5th. They are also only 7 points behind league leaders Liverpool with a surprise title charge not completely written off.

Being named Premier League Manager of the Month for the first three consecutive month in his debut Premier League season, Postecoglou has drawn attention from several clubs across the division.

Tottenham’s executives are apprehensive that their head coach might be tempted to move to Merseyside following Jurgen Klopp’s announcement of departure from Liverpool at the end of the season.

In an interview with the latest episode of Football Insider’s Insider Track Podcast (via Football Insider), transfer correspondent Pete O’Rourke disclosed that the leadership in North London is worried about the possibility of Postecoglou heading to Anfield.

The report claims that the Spurs hierarchy, including Daniel Levy is ‘absolutely concerned Ange could go’ to Liverpool at the end of the season.

It further suggests that the 58-year-old’s future at the club hinges on Tottenham’s qualification for the Champions League.

The Australian has previously been linked to a move away from N17 to a top club, with Manchester City mentioned as a potential destination, particularly amid speculation surrounding Pep Guardiola’s possible departure next year.

TBH Says:

It is extremely unlikely that Postecoglou will leave the club after just one season at Spurs, specially considering how well he has been doing.

Despite facing odds upon his arrival, Postecoglou has quickly made his mark at Tottenham, sparking considerations for elite managerial positions.
