Tottenham Hotspur have been hit with another major blow as Harry Kane has reportedly decided not to renew his contract with the club.
The Football Insider reports that the Tottenham talisman has “told friends he won’t be signing a new” Tottenham deal due to the chaotic situation currently surrounding the club. This is not good news for the Spurs, who are already going through a tough time.
The report further states that Kane is reluctant to extend his contract, with Manchester United believed to be interested in the player. Kane’s current contract with Spurs is set to end in 2024, which means that he could leave the club for free next summer if he does not sign a new contract.
With Spurs going through a turbulent period following the sacking of Antonio Conte and director Fabio Paratici stepping down from his role after FIFA extended his 30-month ban globally, Kane’s decision to not renew with the club will not be surprising.
The club is now without a permanent manager and a sporting director, leaving the situation even more uncertain.
To attract top-tier managers and players, Spurs need to a stable environment. The club are now reportedly looking to hire former director Paul Mitchell to replace Paratici, while several names like Pochettino, Luis Enrique, Julian Nagelsmann, and Brendan Rodgers are among the candidates for Conte’s replacement.
Kane will be a huge factor in Spurs’ ability to attract top-tier managers and players, and the club needs to do everything possible to keep him.
Keeping Kane should be one of Spurs’ priorities. It remains to be seen how the situation will play out, but one thing is for sure – Spurs cannot afford to lose a player of Kane’s caliber.
