I take a view that this evening will be one which the club wishes to mark out as one chapter closing and another opening, and therefore would expect to see the XI most likely to win to be selected. Additionally, after the loss away to this side in the previous leg, this is a tournament Tottenham now needs to assert itself in.
According to Paratici, this squad still enjoys the confidence of the club, which is surely remarkable, at this stage, is it not?

Despite getting sent off tonight, I’d say Romero and Royal offer a bit more than the players Mourinho had available.
Or slag even.
Yet right let’s slap our new manager off before he’s even been in charge for one game.
The only thing both playing tonight will do is gift the opposition a goal… there is no way those two should ever start a game together….
I’m not sure that’s entirely fair… Mourinho would have done better had he Oliver Skipp at his disposal… the games we lost last season was mainly because our players werent fit enough in central midfield… the same is largely true this season but Mourinho improved Kane & Son… Can Conte improve them?
He’ll be out the door before any of the others…even Winks…🤣
Lol. I think the formation will be the same but personnel differences.. I expect conte to use all 5 of his subs tonight… I wonder what his remit is for the season… Is it top 6 or just avoid relegation? 🤣
If lo no show starts he’ll be off between 45-60 mins… let’s see how many of these players think they are too good for this tournament .. I would expect Berghy to start probably in place of no show…
Perfect game to try a new system it’s not easy making changes at the back especially with our 0-3 perennial losers.
Conte has a nice run of games to improve things but please fitness and determination needs to be sorted.
Que surprise… a negative click on an anti Levy post 😂
These would be the same fans who called Mourinho out for derogatory comments he made about Spurs. But ignore the derogatory comments made by Conte.
It shows how fickle and frankly how dumb some Spurs fans actually are.
Just out of interest, and for the record, I was not in favour of either Mourinho and definitely not NES, why are so many of the fans so optimistic that he will be a success? His track record is not as good as Mourinho’s and he’s even more volatile with a long record for falling out with the board and owners. Much as I would like to hope that I am not being unduly pessimistic, I cannot believe that Levy will change his spots and really back the manager, particularly as he made the critical mistake of not buying any new players for 18 months which has left us far behind the top clubs and it will now be far more costly to reinforce the squad with intent. I am unconvinced by Paratici’s signings although I accept it’s early days. I think it’s a case of “hope for the best but prepare for the worst”.
The doc that got away!
Conte will have had his team stuck in front of the club DVD watching this bunch of no hopers in the faint hope he can find 11 to win tonight and on Sunday.
My guess is the team (s) for both will be almost the same. What will be most interesting is to see if there’s the usual new manager bump in performances. If it’s as flat as it has been he’ll be destined to the THFC managerial scrap heap.
Esp applies to one Lo Celso
I do think Nuno was hopeless in every regard and confused the squad/left them unmotivated – awful appointment
so they’re better than that – but I’d say Jose’s powers and the squad were honestly about even at this stage of the game, I think Jose got about as much as you could get out of them over his best season
Conte should be a cut above…so a level above what I believe this squad can give. New players, improvement players, are essential
Player will be on a need to know about recruitment. But the illusion they all have a chance is standard for a new gaffer.
Give it a couple of weeks and the new reality will be in place and someone will be getting no response from Conte.
Think Sanchez instead of Tanganga. Trust your international players with experience first up. If they cant produce their nation form then they will be looking for the door.

Quite remarkable however there are those taking a wage without guilt.
I would agree H that the Paratici statement is more a case of being stuck with this sorry bunch of misfits until at least the New Year and the best chance Conti has of getting any sort of song out of them until then is to make them believe they all have a chance of being part of the new Conti era. The reality is however that Conti no doubt has already decided that at least half a dozen of them have to be shoveled out the back door as soon as possible. I am sure like many we would all like to be a fly on the wall to hear the comments to Conti after a match from players saying that they need to bounce back, they lacked energy and didn’t start well. That would be some Amazon footage that I would pay a premium to view.
At least playing both Lo Celso and Ndombele one of them might create something – have to admit…I’m excited at the prospect of watching the team again.
Hopefully the reality lives up to the billing 😀
