Ferdinand bets on Tottenham finishing below rivals

Rio Ferdinand has placed a wager that Manchester United will finish this season in a better position than Tottenham.

After securing a return to the top four last season, the Red Devils have become the in-form team in the league this season, well, until yesterday.

They were top of the league before losing their position to Manchester City, no thanks to a shock 2-1 home loss to Sheffield United.

Tottenham has returned to form and if they beat Liverpool tonight, they will go above the Reds with a game in hand.

United’s loss at home has put an end to their fine run of form, and they might struggle to bounce back.

But Ferdinand thinks that regardless of how they respond to the setback, they will still finish this season above Tottenham.

After watching his former side lose to the Blades, Ferdinand revealed he has had a wager with Peter Crouch that United will finish above Spurs and Liverpool.

Ferdinand said on BT Sports via Mirror Football: “We’ve already had a wager on this.”

Crouch replied: “Yeah I said before the game I still think Liverpool will finish above United.”

Ferdinand then added: “Nah, he’s drunk too many red wines. I think Man Utd will finish above Spurs. We’ve had a little wager. What is it? A case of red wine?”

Crouch concluded: “A case of red wine, mate. A charity of your choice. Liverpool will finish above United.”
