Premier League order Spurs and other teams to come down hard on Covidiots

The Premier League has told Tottenham and other teams in the English top-flight to come down hard on players who flout covid rules or they will be punished.

Giovani Lo Celso, Sergio Reguilon, and Erik Lamela recently got into hot water when they were photographed in a large group of people after a party.

This happened after England had placed a partial ban on different households meeting each other as they look to curb the spread of coronavirus.

The trio has since been dealt with internally by the club, but it seems that the Premier League is now looking for more action from their teams.

In a letter to the 20 teams in the competition, they told them that they have to make the rule-breakers pay heavily for breaking the rules or risk being punished by the Premier League themselves.

The letter, as quoted by Mirror Football, reads: “It is vital to ensure public, government and stakeholder confidence in the training and match day protocols that individual transgressions by relevant persons are properly investigated and sanctioned by clubs.

“Failure to do so may result in disciplinary action by the league individually against the relevant person where it is appropriate and/or against the club itself where the relevant person’s conduct constitutes a breach of the training protocols.”

With Spurs looking to win trophies this season, the last thing they want is for some of their important players to miss games for breaking covid rule.
