The Evening Standard Tottenham correspondent, Dan Kilpatrick reckons that Jose Mourinho will be happy with his squad this season after winning his last two league games when he made changes to his initial line up.
Tottenham beat Brighton 2-1 in the Premier League yesterday and the winning goal was scored by Gareth Bale who came off the bench in that game.
The league game before last night’s match was a 1-0 win over Burnley and Erik Lamela came off the bench to make a telling contribution to the goal.
The Argentinean made way for Bale last night after deservedly starting the game.
With several other players to choose from like Lucas Moura, Kilpatrick reckons that Mourinho will be a happy man when he looks at his options.
He writes: “Jose Mourinho must be purring at the strength of his Tottenham squad after changing the game from the bench in Sunday’s 2-1 win over Brighton.
“Erik Lamela was rewarded for an important cameo at Burnley with a start against the Seagulls but it was his replacement, Gareth Bale, who made the difference, scoring the first goal of his second spell.
“Sub Giovani Lo Celso was also impressive. For all Spurs’ impressive options, however, it will be instructive to see Mourinho’s choices against Ludogorets on Thursday after the manager panned his fringe players following defeat at Royal Antwerp in midweek. ”
Son Heung-min was unusually quiet yesterday, but the South Korean remains one of the top players in the club this season, and he will be hoping to get back to scoring in his next match.

Son has looked a bit knackered in his last game and a half. Hopefully him and Kane can have a proper rest till the weekend

Dan Kilpatrick is a lazy waste of space and should never be quoted. It’s sad that a blog that truly inspires debate is bogged down by “bruce grove” constantly regurgitating poor stories from the news feed.
Son is vital, but he has to be sub again on Thursday. Against Antwerp and Brighton he looked out of sorts. Our squad is better than last year, but we have to keep Kane and Son fit by making sure Vinicius, Bergwijn, Moura and Bale take the weight. With that though, they need to perform otherwise what was the point?
