PAY-PER-VIEW Premier League games could be axed according to Ladbrokes. The bookies make it a 3/1 chance that PPV games are shown the red card following backlash from fans.
Jessica O’Reilly of Ladbrokes said: “It should hardly come as a surprise to Premier League chiefs that PPV games would go down like a cup of cold sick with fans, and following poor viewing figures we’ve slashed the odds accordingly it’s axed.”
This is an interesting point, as the bookmaker has clearly heard something in order to nudge the bookmaker into shortening the price. Pay Per View football itself isn’t an entirely bad idea, however charging stay at home fans £14.95 is straightforwardly toxic.
Bad Timing
PPV models can be hugely successful and boxing events in particular have worked in the past, as fans have seen the opportunity to club together and make a night of it. But in the current Coronavirus climate, that model is suddenly ill-conceived and awkwardly overpriced. Time for all those involved to have a serious rethink!

The owners of the most wealthy clubs just want to ring fence all the money and create a citadel, it shouldn’t be allowed. The people that want this are business people, the clubs should be ashamed of themselves. The fans should let them know, probably brain washed though…
Glad to see that the Premier League realise that there are limits to raiding the Golden Goose. No doubt they will be back with a new wheeze to fleece fans.
European Super Leagues, a permanent top six, expanded Champions League, they just don’t know when to stop.
