Tanguy Ndombele’s reputation would appear to have gone from want-away zero to Lilywhite hero in the space of one football match. What we know for sure, is that the Frenchman is precisely what José Mourinho said he was, a great player who needed to demonstrate his greatness. The willingness to succeed is the key to all players, however with Tanguy the rewards to that are potentially huge.

Tanguy’s ability to break up play is what makes him a game-changer waiting to happen. The Frenchman has not just the physical presence to more than disrupt any game, at any level, but the footballing brain that the brute force requires.

53.9% is the Frenchman’s best average ratio in this discipline.

Tanguy made six interceptions, which was superb, given his mean average is 3.87.
The prospect of Tanguy Ndombele becoming all he can be for Mourinho is mouth watering. He’s an Opal Fruit!

The funny part of that is, if Hart hadn’t made a thing of the cross bar being too low, they wouldn’t have put it past him.
There are bigger games to come, but any sign of improvement is welcomed. This was a small step against a team no one had heard of, but it is better than him having a nightmare. The Cup game v Chelsea will show how we may fare this season, but does Jose trust Tanguy or will he be put in against lesser opposition so his confidence is raised? I hope he doesn’t turn in to a Lamela 2.0, whereby Eric seems to love the Europa because the opposition is weaker. Against better teams Lamela hardly shone, so I hope Tanguy can play a level above on a regular basis.
Got lots to say for himself but as for goalkeeping these days… one shot and one goal from a team of Balkan farmers? We’ll see, would you seriously be Burnley’s third choice if you were that good? Gazzaniga was stronger competition for Hugo than Hart.
I hope he proves me wrong, but people seem to have developed a blind spot to the last four years of his career now he’s signed for us. Might be a good character to have about but I’m not sure where this idea that our squad was ‘lacking character’ comes from. Was it?
Villarreal are known as the Yellow Submarines and we’re the Bananas?! We certainly don’t take ourselves as seriously as Real Madrid’s fans that’s for sure! 😂
“Non! dombele!”
That’s French see…. 😂
He could end up player of the year, or close to it this season. Not really a turnaround, more just egg on the face for those who wrote him off…
Och , see you, Jimmy! 🤣
Alan Hutton, look after him🌚
Case of beers probably.
Ledleys on the case🌚
Thinking the same thing…. That three holding sounds delicious!!
Reminds me of the song 30,000 pounds of bananas by Harry Chapin.
Unfortunately the defence is easily peeled too.
I agree with you that, I never understood the trashing of him just because he hadn’t got his flow going yet, for one reason or another. Pretty obvious from the bits we saw that he’s quality…
Certainly looking good so far long may it rain (sic)
had to Edit..loved that little kicking motion he did late on it didnt achieve anything or fail but the fact he can do it….you will never see Harry Iniesta attempt that
don’t panic Paul
my West Ham mate reckons he gets to about 1 in 10 on his left
and as for Torino………………..
Was at Ossie’s testimonial in 86. Him and glen ran it.
I will admit he’s lost a yard or three of pace these days.
From the favellas in the vaaaalleys
From the favellas in the vaaaalleys
Ha, that’s the Welsh Roberto Carlos to you, thank you very much. 😂
He’s got that slow moving slouchy yaya T about him. Very deceiving.
Was never in doubt to those who know.
The English iniesta😂😂😂😂😂 if he’s that then Ben Davies is Roberto Carlos
Not sure what is happening with Harry Winks – seems to be getting worse with every passing game. The English iniesta he ain’t. Such a shame as I thought he had some potential when he first came in. He recycles the ball but doesn’t do anything threatening with it and effectively kills our tempo/ forward momentum. Is he doing as Jose has instructed or is he just a limited player?
Sell ndom😂😂😂😂
Hopefully he can be coached so that it isn’t a major problem. He will probably be better for a few run outs to get his confidence back.
Like Dembele
Thats funny but accurate.
He used to be a great shot stopper, I remember one game we played Man. City we must’ve had 6 great shots from all angles & he saved then all.
0-0
Nowadays he struggles badly with long shots.
The one against Watford in pre season was similar.
Hope he improves that aspect
Loved the original (pass the kouchie) by the mighty diamonds. Kouchie=weed pipe.
If Tanguy becomes better at breaking up play more then you’ll only need two and room for a number 10 or another forward. PEH can be used where required…
It’s them energy drinks and bars that you can’t buy down the supermarket I think. No it’s mostly Levy morphing into a proper football chairman instead of a market trader.
He’s immensely strong and physique wise like Maradona when he is over the ball you’re not getting it back easily.
Pity there is no crowd to show Tanguy a bit of love for ignoring the noise and getting down to business. I think he’ll flourish even more whenever he hears the fans sing the “Tanguy Song”(somebody is composing one as I write no doubt) on that blessed day when the faithful can return to our stadium.
Now he’s lost some weight at last Mou can finally get his arm around him! No more Chicken nuggets for you Tanguy you’re going to be one of our stars.
This yellow kit makes them look like bananas 😁
Unlike myself as i remember them clearly, I bet many readers are confused & thinking WTF so for clarity, he’s a ‘Starburst’
Tanguy looked immense out on the pitch and covered some ground. And lasted the 90 minutes (as did Lamela). Is this the Jose effect or the Bale effect?
Do we have a song for Joe Hart?
Past da keeper on da left hand side ?
Can we dare hope this is the time he really starts to come good.Hopefully Jose has been putting an arm around him.
N’Dombele,Lo Celso and Hojbjerg holding is a midfield to be reckoned with.
Tanguy coming good
I like Lamela too. He has goals and assists in him. Always seems to do something when he’s on the pitch
its about time people started to appreciate Lamela for what he brings to Spurs
Normally he gets 35 minutes. He is an alca selzer of a player with the abilitty to fizz around the pitch jump leading the rest of the team
He is always in amazing positions when goals are scored just waiting that final pass
Most surprised he played 90 minutes. I didn,t think he would ever play a full match again due to fitness
Gone are the days when he was a headless chicken but a real weapon from the bench. Lamela has goals in him more so then any of our midfielders
That must make Alli a “Fishermans Friend”
