Ken Lawrence for The Sun understands that José Mourinho is doing his upmost to free up salary within the squad as part of what will hopefully become a major overhaul of the Tottenham squad. José will know the economic limitations at Spurs, and José will know how to navigate them, this is what you get with a wily fox.
Ryan Sessegnon is another Tottenham Mystery, this is a player that chalked up a lot of minutes for Fulham, then arrived at Hotspur Way injured. Injured with a thigh strain that wiped him out of action for 3 months. So Pochettino had no choice, but to not play the boy. Ryan was back in rehab from the beginning of November 2019, so it is safe to presume that he was unable to impress Mourinho in the 4 months before the pandemic struck.
From a source close to the club, I understand that the José is interested in Erik Lamela also being moved on. Another player that struggled for game time under Pochettino and has been used sparingly by Mourinho. While Erik clocked up 25 Premier League appearances last season, 13 came from the bench and a further 8 ended with by being benched. Those 1,210 minutes generated 2 goals. Also, do not be surprised if Ryan Sessegnon is farmed out, I’m given to understand there’s a lot of work to do there.
The more salary and that can be freed up, the more agile we become, the better we can compete in the markets.

Celly ndom. Two brilliant footballers.
Modric had a slow start with us because he had a knee injury and was also played out of his position. He was playing the number 10 role and on the left wing.. As soon as he was moved into centre mid he bossed, he was instrumental, helping us to get to our first champs league in 50 years.. Lo Celso hasn’t been played out of position. He has had a full season now. Any player foreign or english that comes in on an equal club record signing has to be better than Lo Celso and Ndombenchy. Those are two reasons right there why we had our worst season in 12 years. Never mind 5 years…. At least Lo celso is trying, but anyone blowing smoke up any of our new boys behinds is beyond me… For that amount of money we could have invested in a grealish or coutinho.. Our transfer dealings have been poor for time. If you really think our new boys and last years window was a success then our results and performances prove otherwise.. We were lucky to get ropey in the end.
Sad really. If I were him I’d try change my snappy aggressive style of play. He’s got natural competitive aggression in his game though, plus the argi blood. (But then again weak messi🌚 maybe he should just focus on being a out&out winger and stay out of the nitty gritty middle. No more winger’s anymore anyway. Attacking players.
Modric was nowhere near Ballon dor when he played for us & I don’t remember Modric being too great in his 1st season for us.
Judge a foreign player after he’s had a proper season with us.
How long did Bale take to become Bale???
Don’t judge him playing in maybe our worst season in 5 years.
Don’t get disheartened this summer Jose is making us like his Chelsea’s team of 2004. The players who leave have to go as they are not good enough for whats to come give Jose the time we have our Makiele now just with younger models. We just need our Kalou, Gallas Ceser and our John Terry and we on our way. If any one knows the Transfer market it is Jose. If this time shows you anything is nobody knows what is around the corner. Just sit back and enjoy the transfer window ride let Jose do what he doses best. I have a feeling that his Gallas man will be Dumfries of Psv as He has his Robben and Duff in Son and Bejiwin and Bejiwin knows and plays well with him. The Best is yet to come Thfc 4Life
Comparing LoCelso with Modric 😂 Perhaps you need to go specsavers too bruv…. Lo Celso has had a full season with us with 37 odd appearences with ZERO goals and ONE assist. Arriving injured I think a comparison with Lamela is fair….. Comparing him with Modric the ballon dor winner is delusional….. “When he starts getting sent off’ then we can complain about red cards…… So far his highest stat is yellow cards… Even if he changed those yellow cards into goals and assists it would be a slight improvement but still not impressive.
Aye it pains me to agree… He wants it… But every time he gets going there is always an injury waiting for him round the corner.
Yeah its a shame Cocos been blighted with injuries, never reaching his full potential now… Ndombenchy would definitely get moved on if someone came with enough money.. But who on earth would want him now… Winks and Sessy I’m sure will be staying, mainly because of the homegrown rule. We are running out of english players. We will need to buy or promote some if any more leave.
We need a clear out… It’s what comes in that bothers me. We need more in than out as well considering the likes of Rose and trippier were never replaced.
Just over a year ago Neuer,Muller,Sule,Coman,Davies,Tolisso,Boateng,Alaba,Lewandowski and Thiago were all watching Winks,Tanganga,Skipp,Roles,Kane,Marsh,White,Georgiou and Kwp all academy boys lift the AUDI CUP. How did that even happen? They must off been on holiday mode playing in flip flops.😂
Nothing wrong with the old 👀 but thanks anyway.LoCelso has played 28 games in the Pl with 0 goals and 2 assists I didnt say anything about his potential did I ? He might have put the ball on the net, but it has to be IN the net to count.Taxi for specsavers.
Jose clearing out all the long timers. Son too good to go. Lucas José likes. Kane staying for now. Not many left. Davies on a five year contract. Who’s left. Sissy Sanchez and dele. clear’em out Jose. 🌚 £200mil for Kane and dele
The problem with cleansing the Augean stables is that our horses are not worth much. Fees for Aurier, Lamela Foyth and Rose would probably not even raise £50 mill. Realistically, if we really want to raise money, we would have to sell one of Kane or Son . I am sure that Mourinho would like to sell N’Dombele but we would never get our money back on him which Levy would not be able to stomach. We should sell Alli, he is a waste of space and will never be the player we had hoped, but what is he worth in today’s market? On the flip side of recruitment, having watched Bayern v Barca last night, we can safely cross Semedo off the list as a successor to Aurier, he was awful. What I would give to see Alphonso Davies in a Spurs shirt? Slightly off base, but what about Jack Butland as a back up to Lloris? He is still only 27 and Stoke would accept circa £8 mill for him now, worth a punt.
The fact that you lump Lo Celso in with Lamela says alot about your desperate need to visit specsavers.
I like Lamela, he was so important in helping us play the Poch way in the early days, he was brilliant at pressing in the days Kane loved to do it also.
That game when Pep realised what he needed to do in the UK when we beat City 2 – 0, Lamela was a star that day.
But Lamela’s confidence when it comes to scoring goals is not there enough so unfortunately his time is up.
Lo Celso on the other hand is gonna be a star, he is one of the very few that will drive with the ball & play the kind of passes foward Modric used to [even when facing away from goal].
Remember, he was maybe 60% fit after lockdown he was carrying an injury but still played when we needed him.
Next season with better players around him he’ll shine more than he has already.
He’s a special player.
We need more like him.
When he starts getting sent off, then you can complain about yellow cards & I’m sure he put the ball on the net this season.
No take the fire from them belly
Alf Ramsey said they were animals!
In his time with Spurs in the PL he has 16 goals but 26 yellow cards, I see a similar trait developing with his compatriot LoCelso 0 goals & 6 yellow cards. Fans love their aggression but maybe they need to be smarter.
Interested to hear that about Erik, because he seems like a Mourinho type of player; hardworking, decent skill set and with a mean streak. However, given the lack of funds, Mourinho is going to need to fashion a transfer budget from somewhere, ideally by shifting the error prone or injury prone deadwood. Accordingly, Foyth, Aurier, Rose (gaffe prone!) and indeed Lamela, would fall into those categories. I would suggest that neither Ndombele nor Winks, would be considered sacrosanct either, if the price was right.
I’m not sure what Jose sees in him.
He costs us in so many games with his mistakes, positioning or lack of anticipation.
I feel he costs us as much as Aurier does.
Jose is partly to blame, it was him tapping up Dier when he was at Man.U some years ago that was the beginning of the end.
Dier was a better player before then.
But Jose looks like he has a plan so I’m trusting he’ll achieve what we want & improve us
I’m a fan of Eric but I think the time has come to move him on.
