These are fascinating times in which we are living through, and if one thought that the 2019/20 season was awkward, the forthcoming one could prove to be even stranger. A source close to the club understands that Spurs pursuit of another striker/ a back-up striker to Harry Kane are not going spectacularly well.
Spurs have made an approach to Bournemouth in respect of Callum Wilson, but the freshly relegated boy is said to currently be more concerned with thought of taking a pay cut, than he is with keeping himself in the employ of a Premier League side.
Whilst there are bound to be the usual concerns wheeled out about ‘game-time’, the truth is, most players’ primary motivator is cash – especially when the average career is a particularly short one.

On paper, joining Tottenham would be a nice gig. Harry Kane is hell bent on playing at every given opportunity and whilst susceptible to the occasional injury, the 27-year-old has an innate allergy to physio rooms.
The problem Wilson is likely to encounter, negotiating with Spurs here is that in recent seasons the wage bill has crept up. Tottenham’s wage bill was the sixth highest in the Premier League for 2019, at £179million. There’s not much meat left on that particular bone.
Perhaps Callum believes that there’s a better deal out there for him and his 85 all-time career goals? That said, team-mate Nathan Ake landed himself a dream money move to Manchester City…

Yes Harry needs an apprentice not a father figure like Deeney or Llorente.
‘Show me the money’. Yes H, they want the dot dash first and foremost.
Looking at his record, I wouldn’t bother.
Wilson obviously won’t take a pay cut like they tried on Llorente. Strikers are the best paid for a reason and limited as he is he will have clubs interested, probably a promoted one desperate for Premier League experience.
H you glossed over Harry’s injury history as if it were a few minor muscle strains. Harry’s twice had to have surgery for serious injuries. Somebody needs to rein Harry in for his own good or he’ll be retiring early, injury blighted Michael Owens career, I wouldn’t like to see the same happen to Harry.
Patrik Schick
I would like to think that if Mourinho gets his second striker,he would manage Kane’s game time better and insist that he gets the required rest.
We know he would play on with a broken leg if it was up to him,and Mourinho knows how important he will be if we have any possibility of success this season.I fully expect him to be rested and subbed when required and hopefully in that way he can stay injury free.
I agree with your idea that Mitrivic or Watkins would be a good idea especially if we’re not able to buy at the top end of the market.
if I had a choice I’d rather we went for a young prospect like Brentford’s Ollie Watkins. Though I suppose that would depend on the outcome of tomorrows play off final. If Brentford lose fine, if Fulham lose then why not try for Mitrovic? Callum Wilson is definitely a better buy than Deeney though in my book, he smacks of desperation and we could see a situation like Llorente where he was emergency back up striker only. We need a plausible option to Kane and not just somebody on emergency standby twiddling their thumbs until Harry does himself in through playing too many minutes. We need a striker that can come on when Kane’s having a mare of a game, or to sub him if we’re losing and Kane’s not working, it does happen. Most of all we need a striker for the marathon that is going to be the ropey, that presuming we’re not done in early by Findus Foods FC of Mongolia,
