“Tell them to jog on” “Hands off him” These fans rile at thought of Starting XI star being poached

Sky Sports’ Lyall Thomas has a solid enough track record with what’s happening at Tottenham Hotspur and this latest transfer rumour concerning Serge Aurier looks to be based in fact, opposed to fiction.

Serge has been a tough player to love during his time at Tottenham, and it’s never been entirely about the football. Indeed, before he joined Spurs, there was some convoluted backstory about homophobic abuse at Paris St Germain which mobilized some LGBT groups to object to his move to North London in the first place.

At Spurs there have been the foul throws, the red cards, a good deal of COVID-19 lockdown breaching, and most recently a trend of passing to the opposition.

Sure in this thread there have been a few dissenting voices (the usual I’ll drive him there myself type replies) but otherwise it is encouraging to see that so many fans are employing some critical thinking, namely asking about who might replace our lovable loon.

Former Tottenham man Paul Mitchell is currently at Monaco, so Lyall Thomas’ report could be onto something.

He’s a talented player, unfortunately he’s not disciplined and worse he’s not a team player, he does his own thing on the field. He can attack and cross but the downside especially the turnovers are not acceptable in modern football. Over a season giving the ball away so often is going to cost too us too many points.
