Have Spurs finally identified the perfect back up for Harry Kane?

Tottenham might make Artem Dzyuba their new backup striker in the summer, according to Football London journalist Alasdair Gold.

The Lilywhites have been looking for a striker that would take the goal-scoring burden off Harry Kane for some time now.

They had Fernando Llorente until the end of last season and the Spaniard proved to be an inspired backup to the England captain.

Spurs didn’t renew Llorente’s deal this season and they have had to rely heavily on Harry Kane for the goals that they need.

Reports over the past few months have suggested that Tottenham would look to sign a backup striker in the summer with the likes of Victor Osimhen linked with a move to Jose Mourinho’s side (TalkSport).

However, Gold is reporting that Spurs might make a move for impressive Russian Artem Dzyuba as he becomes available for a free transfer in the summer.

Talking about the interest that Spurs have in both Artem Dzyuba and Thomas Menier, he said:

“They certainly have been in both. Meunier has been a long-term target and would provide Aurier with plenty of experienced competition – he took his spot at PSG.

“Spurs looked at bringing in the big Russian international Artem Dzyuba in January but couldn’t make it work. Both players will be considered in the weeks ahead but as free transfers are going to be like gold dust for a lot of clubs.”

After scoring 13 goals and providing 10 assists in 21 league games this season, he looks like he could be an ideal backup for Harry Kane.

Brilliant for Kane to train with and learn from (technically) he was.

What you judging his slow descent on then? His age? Three words, sir Alex Ferguson. How old was he when he won his first trophy in this country? How old was he when he won his last? Or are you judging him since he took over my club mid season?

And so, the attempt to compete on the field but not in the transfer market continues unabated …………………… best of luck Maureen; whatever happens, keep smiling, keep talking, and enjoy the 60 mil as your career continues its slow descent.

Brilliant. Llorente was an inspired back up! The strike with his hip via his elbow was beautiful, but inspired he was not.
