There are persistent rumours that Tottenham are interested in signing Barcelona outcast Philippe Coutinho and the latest speculation as reported by Football Insider is that the door has been opened for Spurs to make a move for the Brazilian.
These rumours have been doing the rounds for some time now and it seems that the Tottenham faithful are split over the playmaker.
It is fair to say that some are taking the rumours with a pinch of salt but that does not mean that some are not delighted with the prospect of the former Liverpool ace setting up camp at the Tottenham stadium and some not so much.
It does appear to be true that Coutinho is surplus to requirements at Barcelona and it is obvious that Bayern Munich is not interested in converting his loan deal into a permanent one.
This is just a taste of the reaction from Tottenham fans
Ffs this story will never end

If Coutinho goes to spurs with Jose still there just know that the beast in him is back. Fantastic baller.

Please NO. He's finished at the top level. And even if he wasn't, he's the anti type of a mourinho playmaker. Hardly any defensive output or pressing ability.

We have a ready made star in the making in lo celso.
Why would we consider wasting money on another attacking player? We should be only going for a back up striker and defenders including cdm this window.

As you can see from the selection above, it really is a mixed reaction.

I would like him at Spurs but how are we going to pay for him it must be a sell/spend budget this year.
Lo Celso is the future, besides coming from Barca and Liverpool before he’ll want paying the going rate. Levy doesn’t to the going rate, not for top players.
One of those players who had the perfect set up at a club, left and the systems at his new clubs weren’t built to suit him. He’s gone from world class to an afterthought in the blink of an eye. I have to hand it to Klopp, he knew exactly what he was losing when he let him go. Just doesn’t strike me as a player that is going to take us to the next level.
