A report from Italy via Sports Witness claims that Spurs are leading the race for the signature of Paris Saint Germain’s Thomas Meunier.
The Belgian will be a free agent in the summer as he runs down his contract at the Parc des Princes.
He has attracted the attention of several top European teams ahead of the next transfer window, including North London rivals Spurs and Arsenal.
The Gunners are looking for competition for Hector Bellerin, but they will most likely have a limited budget for salaries, even for free agents.
That, claims the report, puts Spurs in the leading position among the bitter rivals for the signature of Meunier.
The same report claims that Spurs have a 50% chance of landing him and they are closely followed by Borussia Dortmund, who are set to lose Achraf Hakimi in the summer and Inter and AC Milan.
Since Spurs sold Kieran Trippier in the summer they have had to rely on the unreliable Serge Aurier, and Mourinho apparently wants Meunier to come in and provide competition for the former PSG right back.
Meunier would bring a lot of title-winning experience to the Spurs dressing room having won numerous trophies with PSG.
