Harry Winks took to Instagram after Sunday’s 3-2 loss against Wolves to say he felt “humbled and honoured” by Jose Mourinho’s decision to hand him the Tottenham captain’s armband for the game.
Nice words from a nice boy.
Nobody can ever question the midfielder’s commitment to Spurs and the academy product clearly gave his all once again.
But his performance failed to impress a big chunk of Tottenham fans.
Many took to Twitter to vent about what they perceived as another limited display from the 24-year-old.
Winks was criticised for a lack of creativity in his passing and multiple fans compared him to fellow academy graduate Tom Carroll – who left Spurs in 2017 after recording approximately 642,662 square passes in 27 Premier League appearances.
It was suggested that Winks receives preferential treatment due to his heavy links to the club.
Winks has recorded two goals and two assists in 86 Premier League appearances. To highlight how underwhelming that is, Eric Dier has 10 goals and eight assists in 168 games.
Winks is so poor. Week in week out. It’s painful. Tom Carroll Mark 2

I agree Paul,he’s not a natural DM,doesn’t have the physical presence.I feel he can be more effective going forward in a nore advanced position.
But as we all know DM has been a massive hole in our team since the Moose left and it’s not been addressed.Shameful, but exactly what we expect from these owners.
I think Winks’ game is being affected by Jose’s team selections – different midfield partnerships, unsettled defence and a dysfunctional attack. Hardly ideal conditions to bring out his best qualities. Definitely not a DM. He needs a good DM alongside him to be able to dictate the team rhythm a la Modric but we don’t have a good DM; we used to but he’s now broken. Players are an easy target in the event of a loss but the anger needs to be directed towards the owners and, to a certain extent, Jose.

Back to mid table and hoping for lucky draws in the cup. Cant see Jose getting the backing nor does he seem to have the same fighting spirit in him. He has taken an easy no pressure job.
Thank you, Daniel.
2 goals 2 assists.. Damn…. If only we signed bruno fernandes. Spinny mcspin spin is doing well at manure.
