The Starting XI’s: Spurs vs Man City

HOPE IS THIN ON THE GROUND Spurs are not entirely without decent form against today’s visitors, but is everything suddenly “ancient history”, given our current situation? In all competitions, Manchester City have lost three of their last five away matches against Spurs (W2), losing their most recent game in April 2019 in the Champions League.

DANGER MAN Manchester City’s Kevin De Bruyne became the first player in Premier League history to provide 15+ assists in three different campaigns (15 in 2019-20, 16 in 2017-18 and 18 in 2016-17). In fact, De Bruyne has averaged an assist every 180 minutes in the Premier League – the best such ratio in the competition’s history (min. 20 assists).

LUCKY CHARM MISSING? Manchester City defender Aymeric Laporte has ended on the winning side in 42 of his 49 Premier League appearances – however Laporte, John Stones and Benjamin Mendy were all noticeable by their absence for the trip to Tottenham according to Manchester Evening News photographers.

EARLY BIRDS WANTED, APPLY WITHIN? Of the 12 league games Spurs have won at home, they scored first 10 times. Of the 4 away games Man City has lost, they conceded first 2 times.

That’s a big ask, knowing Spurs of late, but here’s hoping they do turn up. They should want to set the new boy a good example.

I feel relaxed for this encounter, I am expecting at least One Point, I believe Citeh have their eye on the CL.

With the new boy, and if Son and Lucas get their fingers out, I can see us nicking this.

Need to start on the front foot, that City defence looks vulnerable, on paper!

Straight in, no bollocking about for months. Pace in full backs, sparing us the sight of Vertonghen against Sterling. They should have too much firepower for us, but sometimes it’s your day and nobody can stop you, here’s hoping. Unleash the Steven. Pity the hypochondriac isn’t fit.
