Pochettino Buyout Clause Is Fake News

Can someone please take down that ‘Parasites Wanted’ sign?

Neil Ashton’s at it again, Tottenham hitting a rocky patch must be like him finding a suitcase full of Viagra left on his doorstep.

One might have thought after the Toby Alderweireld buy-out clause was proved to be fake, that nobody would be dumb enough to invent another one.

Daniel Levy simply doesn’t do them, because they do not work to the advantage of the club.

Yet for The Sun, Ashton has decided that £32million is the magic number to spring Mauricio Pochettino from Spurs and see the Argentine installed as the latest Manchester United boss.

Again, instead of concocting a fairytale from which we learn nothing and fail to even be entertained by, what Ashton could have done, was to ask, What are Liverpool and Manchester City doing so differently?’

Tottenham, Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester United have all been struggling to cling on to their reputations for some while.

Indeed, the quality of the Premier League has been pretty horrific across the board in recent years.

It says a lot when the winners of the division are decided virtually months before the season closes, and yet the number of sides in the relegation mix could open their own league.

And we wonder why Twitter is loaded with #PochOut cretins

I’d keep our owner if he promised to be less greedy. Just let us have all the pitch made money. Do what you want with the rest.

I would swap their owners! I think they have approached the club as a sports team. As for City, I always object to clubs buying titles. I was living in Manchester when Roman brought Chelsea and the City fans were incredibly vocal about how it was wrong and they would walk away from football if they got bought out. All clubs have a hard ride at some point, it gets harder when some teams use doping…in this case financial.

City deserved it really (they had it bad) I’m not mad with them about buying their success. I wouldn’t swap anything with Liverpool. (Apart from some of their history) fuck them both. Tottenham better club.

Lol – city got lucky that they got bought by a Sheik, who has invested enough money to float a small country. Liverpool I think that was a real sporting approach.

Although Poch has made some questionable tactical decisions of late the calls for his departure are pointing the blame for this sad start to the season in the wrong direction. When five of what is arguably your best starting eleven are either out of contract at the end of this season or were offered for transfer at the end of the last one you are obviously going to have big problems with morale. If you add to that the fact that these are senior players who would normally be providing leadership in the dressing room then you don’t have to be a rocket scientist to understand why the team looks so lethargic and sloppy. You can come out with all the old cliches about being “professional” when being highly paid but believe me if, if you can’t see a future with an organization beyond the next 8 months or so it is difficult to be enthusiastic and do anything but just go through the motions. The real culprit here is our old friend Levy and Poch must be sick to death of being regularly handed a poison chalice when it comes to the depth and character of his squad. If he leaves whoever inherits this mess will have to be nothing short of a miracle worker to turn the ship around, and anyone worth their salt will avoid the job like the plague. Would Klopp or Pep have put up with this Levy crap for five years? I think not.

Levyologists warn us about “Doing a Leeds”. Supporters of other clubs are probably more worried about their owners “Doing a Levy”.

The problem with stories like this, and others that are similar, is that, coupled with our dip in form, is like blood in the water to opposing teams who can sense our psychological weakness and exploit it on the pitch. thus propagating the downward spiral. A win against the Saints is an absolute must, preferably in accomplished style.

we wont… The press is basically the united/Liverpool love in. Liverpool see anything REMOTELY not positive about them as an attack, and anything positive about us as us being the presses baby. These rags know their market, and its white van drivers who most propbably support Chelsea/Millwall in the south or Liverpool/United in the north.

Neil Ashton’s buy out figure is just a lazy mathematical calculation as to the time left on Poch’s contract x the annual salary. Whilst I am not advocating Poch being sacked, I don’t think, having reached the CL final, it helped team morale when he suggested he might bow out afterwards. It is all very well for him to complain about the team uncertainties, but his own body language, surly press conferences and constant flirting with Real Madrid are hardly conducive to a settled dressing room. There is something hypocritical about him constantly espousing loyalty with a settled team whilst appearing to be so unsure about his own future. He should have stated unequivocally that he intended to honour his contract. I, for one, am not impressed by his current attitude. He knew what he was getting into when he signed his new contract, so either get on with it or leave.

When , oh when, will we see an end to this journalistic onanathon?

It’s beginning to grate.

What are City and Liverpool doing differently is a great question that a real journalist would look into! On the surface, they went out and found a good manager, one that fits the model of football they wish to follow. They then backed said manager to the best of their financial clout. Filling gaps that were identified with players that actually improved the starting 11, sometimes at a cost that pro-habited other purchases. In the case of Liverpool, this has allowed youth players to be injected in rotation with established players to develop them. Liverpool are really building for the future. This however, is just the surface, I am sure there is more depth to it, timing of when they did it, and how they identified managers and players.
